5/28/2023 0 Comments Spinning silver book reviewThe Russian folklore influence is mighty, and it’s possible to see things like the story of Scheherazade in Irina. The primary source is Rumplestiltskin, which ought to be obvious from the title, but there are traces of other fairy tales and folk stories layered in here as well. I mentioned up above that Spinning Silver is a fairy tale retelling, and it is. Between all three woman, the fate of the country will be decided. But the tsar is not what he seems, and Irina’s life is on the line. And Irina knows she’s not the prettiest girl, yet her father contrives to marry her to the tsar. But when she and her brothers accidentally kill their father, she must go on the run from the life she knows. Wanda is looking for an escape from her abusive father and finds it in Miryem’s offer to work off her father’s debt. When she takes the family business into her own hands and begins to turn a profit, the winter king of the fairy-like Staryk appears and demands that she turn silver into gold for him. Miryem is the daughter of a poor moneylender. My first readthrough was right after the release, but I just read it again in January after hankering for a good fairy tale. I caved and read Uprooted after seeing some fantastic reviews, and fortunately not long after that, Spinning Silver arrived on the shelves. I promised that I would go back and review some of the books I read during my review hiatus, so here is the very first one.

Instead? Thornton has released a narrative masterpiece that is not only binge worthy but obsessively based on detail. A good gossipy more-or-less accurate novel you could forgive for its wash because, let’s face it, no one expects accuracy in a fictional Kennedy account. I expected a beach-ready vibe when I picked up And They Called It Camelot. Not to sound cliche, but it adds fresh color to the queen who transfixed the world. Her first-person historical fiction narrative of Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis’ life was a delicious read. Ģ020’s release by Stephanie Marie Thornton proved me wrong. 50,000+ books written on JFK, Jackie, and the Kennedys…is there anything left to say? With so much history still left to be explored, why anyone would write another book on anything Kennedy is beyond reason (except, for the fact the Kennedy story is a good sell). 5/28/2023 0 Comments Reaper of Souls by Rena BarronWonderfully written, and full of dark magic and danger, it was a story I couldn't wait to escape into. The Classic Text Annotated to Update Graham's Timeless Wisdom for Today's Market Conditions Now available for the first time in paperback! I never expected that there I would encounter black and brown people who were like me and my family. I wandered into history looking for excitement. It had changed the lives of my white grandparents, whom I loved deeply, and I was intoxicated by the thought that German bombers had prowled the skies above my home town and that my grandfather had scanned those skies while on watch on the roof of the Vickers Armstrong factory by the River Tyne, where he worked building tanks. For the white working-class community that I grew up in, the war was the most exciting and significant event ever to collide with our terraced streets and decaying factories. Britain of the 1980s was a nation still saturated in the culture and paraphernalia of that conflict. I stumbled upon the subject that was to become my vocation out of a simple love of story, and because of a gung-ho fascination with the Second World War that was almost obligatory among boys of that period, whatever their racial background. 5/27/2023 0 Comments Eloisa james wilde in loveAgent: Kimberly Witherspoon, Inkwell Management.
